~Frequently Asked Questions~
Q: How early should I arrive?
A: Try to arrive 5 to 10 minutes before your scheduled appointment to allow time for us to discuss your goals and how I can customize your service.
Q: What should I expect to happen at my appointment, what is the procedure?
A: If you are a new client, the first thing you will do is fill out a short health history form to let me know if you have any medical issues that may be a contra-indication. Next, we will go over that form together briefly, & you can tell me exactly what you are looking to achieve from your service. {i.e. light or deep pressure, skin care concerns} I will show you how to get on the table & answer any more questions. Then, I will leave the room for a few minutes so you can undress & lay on the massage table. I will knock before I come back in, then we will start your treatment. Depending on your service, you will be totally covered with sheets & blankets the entire time except for whatever part of the body I am working on.
Guests who are having a waxing service performed that are below the neck will have a privacy towel given to them. For our guests who are having a bikini waxing service we offer disposable undergarments and a fresh-wipe before service. Due to manufactures only making a one-size-fits most disposable undergarments, we ask modest plus-size clients to bring in their own underwear for bikini services, thongs work best.
Q: Do I have to disrobe entirely?
A: No, it all depends on what service you are having. You will be given instuction on what needs to be removed for your service. For massage treatments, usually just down to your underwear or to your comfort level.
Q: How can I pay?
A: Visa, Mastercard, Check or Cash.
Q: What is the tipping policy?
A: Gratuity is not included in price of services & is up to your discretion. Tipping is customary, if you wish to leave a gratuity, most guests leave 10-20%.
Q: What if the pressure from my massage is too light/much & it's uncomfortable?
A: I will only ask once in the middle of your massage how the pressure feels, this is to ensure that you can truly relax during the massage. Feel free at any time to ask for a lighter or deeper pressure and to communicate any discomfort. I want your massage to be 100% satisfactory.
My philosophy for pressure during a massage is that it should be comfortable; by working the whole body we release all the individual tight muscles. I don't believe the no pain, no gain theory. If you are in pain during your massage then we as massage therapists are causing more stress to the tight tissue, which will only make your muscles tighter in the long term. This is not to say that during a massage you may experience the feel good pain which shows that we are releasing the tight muscle but if you start to hold your breath or are wincing then the pressure is too much.
Q: Am I supposed to feel sore the next day?
A: Some clients may feel a little sore the next day, it's perfectly normal. Drinking a lot of water 24 hours after your massage will lessen that feeling by helping to flush out all the toxins that were released.
Q: Can I talk during the massage or should I stay quiet?
A: This is up to your preferences, some clients need to talk to let themselves relax while others like to remain silent and fall asleep. I tell my clients the greatest compliment you can give is by telling us that you feel asleep and don't remember when during your massage. Some clients just need to be positioned face down first to allow them selves to relax without talking, please let me know if you think you would like your massage started this way.
Q: My feet are ticklish, or there are places I don't want massaged.
A: If there are any places you want me to avoid, just let me know. Otherwise, a full body massage will include face, scalp, arms, legs, back, neck, shoulders, hands, & feet. I have found that if you apply just a little more pressure to the bottom of some ones feet it does take the feeling of being tickled away, but I will do whatever you prefer.
